A.J. Carroll and T. Bongiovanni "Essential English. How to Pass the Twelfth Form Exam"

I have chosen to analyze a book by Amy Jo Carroll and Ted Bongiovanni, “Essential English. How to Pass the Twelfth Form Exam” It was published in 1997, Kaunas “ Sviesa”.
This book is an additional source of information for those who want to pass the English exam well. It is the result of a hard work of volunteers from America together with our teachers.
Before starting to analyze the book I would like to say few words about the criteria for text book selection. In order to choose a suitable book for the students, teacher has to consider the audience, the age, level of knowledge of the students, syllabus, and students’ motivation. It is also important to decide on concrete aims, results that the teacher wants to achieve. And think whether that book will make achievement of those results possible The setting is also important criteria for choosing a good textbook. Some textbooks are suitable for small classes only the other on the contrarily suit only for work with a big number of students. While choosing a book, allotted time has to be also considered. The other not less important criteria for the book selection is its price. Not every school can afford to buy very expensive book, the same is with pupils’ parents, and not all of them can afford an expensive book, so the teacher has to find a compromise.
Talking about the book I have chosen to analyze, I would advise it to the adult learners as it helps to revise 14 different topics before exam., which are the following: Personal Identification, House, Home and Environment, Daily Life, Free Time and Entertainment, Travel, Relations with Other People, Health and Body Care, Education, Shopping, Food and Drink, Services, Places, Language, Weather.
