Pay it forward

Terms of Reference
My name is Kristina Sesplaukyte and I am a student of Business Communications with English. As a part of the course I am doing a Communications module and I have been required to produce a formal report. I have decided to write a report about Paying It Forward, the idea of how to make the world a better place.
Methods of Procedure
In order to prepare the report I attend classes, look for information in the library (books, magazines and articles), watch related to the topic videos and search the internet.
Introduction
“Pay it forward” is a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde in early 2000. The main character of the novel is a 12-year-old student Trevor McKinney, who is troubled by his mother’s alcoholism and fears of his abusive but absent father, and gets caught up by the assignment for his social studies class 1“Think of the way to change the world and put it into action”2. Trevor comes up with “Pay it forward”. The idea is that when someone does something nice to you, you should in turn not pay it back, but pay it forward by doing something good to three other people. Then, these three people will pay it forward to another three people each and it will become nine, and these nine will pay forward to another twenty seven and so on. If this theory works, then kindness will be paid forward endlessly. What started as a work of fiction and what seemed to be a Utopian idea of a child has become so much more.

The Pay it Forward Movement is the reaction to Catherine Ryan Hyde’s book of “Pay it Forward” and has started in early 2000, which was followed by The Pay it Forward Foundation, followed by the Warner Brothers Movie....
