Christmas
• Christmas is the most widely celebrated festival in England. On Christmas Eve everything is rush and bustle. Children decorate the tree with tinsel, various baubles and often coloured lights as well. The house is decorated with holly, and a bunch of mistletoe wider which the boys kiss the girls. Christmas cards are arranged on mantelpieces, shelves, tables, and sometimes attached to ribbon and hung round the walls. The Christmas bird, usually a turkey, the pudding and the cake are prepared for dinner.
• On Christmas Day children excitedly open their stockings, witch hang over the end of the bed. Father Christmas will come down the chimney having packed his reindeer out the roof, and fill them.
• Many people go to the church on Christmas Day. On returning from church mothers go to the kitchen. When mother is ready, the opening of the presents come.
• After meals, one sits down, and watches TV. Later one has tea to this friends might be insisted but not usually for dinner. People sin Christmas carols.
New Year
• On New Year’s Eve people begin to enjoy themselves. The most common type of celebration is a New Year party (a family party or a group of young people). At midnight “Auld Lang Syne” by R.
