Computers and children’s psychological problems

Nowadays in the age of sophisticated technologies computers are influencing people's lives since early childhood. There was a time when computers were possessed only by the rich, however, today almost every child has this electronic machine at home and can not imagine his/her life without it. Children are so much excited by the new possibilities which computers offer that they simply lose the sense of time spent at a computer and do not pay attention to possible health hazards. Because the interest in computers is not likely to decrease soon, many children will suffer from such psychological disorders as computer addiction, alienation from society and violence.
Spending too much time at a computer causes children to become computer addicts. For many children this electronic machine gives a sense of power and well-being. Therefore, they are extremely motivated to use it as long as it is possible. Some kids become so obsessed about prolonging that feeling of euphoria and complete pleasure that they start spending hours after hours at a computer without eating, bathing or sleeping. They even become totally indifferent to these natural needs and tell the truth about it neither to their family members nor friends that nobody could stop them from enjoying the use of this electronic machine. Furthermore, after some time of such 'enjoyment' children face the problem of controlling their emotions when they have to turn off their computers. Being not at this electronic machine they become suddenly depressed, irritable and withdrawn. In order to get rid of these unpleasant feelings and experience the sense of ecstasy once again, children start using computers over and over even if they do not want to.
