Environmental problems and ways to solve them

The topic of my talk is environmental problems and ways to solve them. I would like to begin by saying, that when we make life easier for ourselves, we make it harder for nature, ani­mals and plants including ourselves.
Firstly, I would like to talk about world temperature which increases every year. This could cause the ice sheet to melt and raise the level of the oceans. Many coastal cities would be under water. This is happening because there is too much carbone dioxide in the air. We create carbone dioxide when we burn oil, gas and coal. We send into the atmosphere and heat the Earth. Scientists call this a greenhouse effect. So we must conserve coal, oil and gas.
Secondly I would like to talk about the air pollution. Chemicals from power stations, factories and car exhaust fumes pol­lute the air. Winds carry this polluted air to other countries and continents. In the air pollutants make acid rain. It comes down and kills forests, nature reserves, national parks, crops and animal species. Many materials get corroded as a result of the acidification. Dam­age to buildings occur. A special problem is the damage to cultural objects, monuments, buildings. The soil gets sick and poisons the ground water beneath it. As a con­sequence drinking water is becoming acidic. It affects people's health directly. There are cases...
