Ethical Me

I believe that ethics and ethical decision-making tie to ours personal philosophy. Ethical views can be shaped over time, because a lot of things influence our lives. I think that I am a product of the environment I grew in. I come in contact with so many different people in so unique situations and these interactions certainly have a lot of influence in the way I live.
My parents, of course, were the most significance in my life. Their love, understanding, stern guidance, high expectations, and modeling created environment, which helped me to develop my opinions about ethical issues. My parents not only taught me right from wrong, but also took the time to teach and provide the reasons for their decisions that I could understand and relate to. Most importantly, they lived what they taught, thus making it easier for me to live what I learned from them. They set an example and led the way. I learned one thing that children not only listen to what parents say, they also model what parents do. Now it helps me to raise my child.
My parents would always find something good about every person. There has always been such an air of respect and love around my dad and my mom that is very hard to explain, but extremely easy to understand. My parents' sincere belief in their premise that there is good somewhere within almost every individual is amazing. They always say it is better to give than it is to receive and that giving guarantees more positive return on our investment. While trying to determine my own balance between giving and receiving, I have found their words and actions to be a source of profound importance and guidance. Their influence has created the foundation from which I base my thinking...
