I. Introduction
In this paper 1) I will try to define the rhetoric discourse historically, as the rhetoric gone expansion in its meaning from Greek and Roman origins to the modern times and 2) make a descriptive and structural analysis on the of G.W. Bush speeches.
This paper will be divided into the two sections - theoretical and subject analysis. Former will be divided into the three sub-sections - classical rhetoric, modern rhetoric and figures of speech, while later section will be based on the analysis of twelve speeches of the USA President G.W. Bush. The temporal frame of the analysis will be the first presidential term, mostly the discourse before the events of 9/11. The huge transformation in the political discourse of USA after the events is widely researched and there is a need of the analysis of in the rhetoric field before these drastic incidents. I will try to statistically find and present the number and the meaning of the rhetoric figures found in the political discourse of G.W. Bush speech texts.
The method used in the research will consist of descriptive and structural text analysis. The analysis will not be bent on the bias of tendency toward certain rhetoric figures, the texts taken will be both random and chosen and twenty static rhetoric figures will be picked up and scanned through all texts. The figures found then will be explained and summarized in the statistic form.
