Children’s rights and its protection

Introduction
Social workers believe that the protection of children is crucial to their survival, health, and well-being. Everyday millions of children are exploited, abused, or are victims of violence. Bought and sold like commodities, children are forced to be soldiers, prostitutes, sweatshop workers, and servants. Abuse, exploitation and violence, occurring usually in private, are often elements in organized crime and corruption. Only time reveals the consequences: children uneducated, unhealthy and impoverished. To prevent these problems we have to know children’s rights and how to protect them.
Social worker believes that everyone has a responsibility to see that children are safe. They work with individuals, civic groups, governments and the private sector to help create protective environments for them. Healthy, nurturing surroundings allow children to resist abuse and avoid exploitation. Caring environments fortify children against harm in the same way that proper nutrition and good health care fortify them against disease
We often hear saying children are our future and I fully agree with this statement. But what is doing to make their future better and safer?
UNICEF
The most known institution working on children’s rights is UNICEF. It was created in 1946 after the World War II. It is originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund.
UNICEF was established to help children damaged by war. But it stayed in existence to take on a much broader role. While UN Member States had not intended to prolong UNICEF's life beyond the postwar emergency, they did include in its founding resolution the phrase "for child health purposes generally," and this was to offer the Children's Fund a permanent niche in the large-scale control and prevention of diseases affecting children.
