Speech about Liability

It is very nice to see you all gathered in our conference so early in the morning. I hope you will enjoy this conference and learn some new interesting facts. I will talk not too long, for about 5 minutes and I hope your patience and attention. After I am finished you will be able to ask me some questions.
I will talk about liability. This category comprises those risks where the loss suffered by the person insuring is either an amount of money he is to pay as compensation to another or some loss of his own money. Also I will talk about employer’s liability, public liability and the common features of development.
So let me begin talking about employer’s liability. Nowadays it is normal that where an employee is injured by the fault of the employer, the right arises for that injured person to claim compensation from the employer. But the situation was totally different some 150 years ago.
During the early part of the 19th century, the industrialization of Britain had brought many people to the towns and cities where work was to be found in the new factories. These factories were dark small places where people spent long working hours in hard and exhausting work. So the work was dangerous and could cause injuries. But the employer was not responsible for that. It was the problem of employee.
In 1880 the Employer’s Liability Act placed certain employees in much better legal position. They could at least try to sue their employers. In the same year the first specialist insurer was established, the Employers’ Liability Assurance Corporation.
These acts helped employees to get compensations from their employers if it was needed.
Now lets move to another part of my speech, Public Liability. Little has been reported on the historical development of public liability...
